My caving club is actively exploring the Lancaster-Ease Gill Caverns System, the longest system in the U.K. We are resurveying the cave at present. Opposite is Ray Duffy, our Club Secretary and one of the main surveyors admiring formations in Lancaster Hole. The system is well described at the websiote above. The cave survey is being processed using a program called survex which we obtained from the Cave Survey Group Go to the Red Rose web site for more information on this surveying project. The club is based at Bull Pot Farm from where the photo below was taken. ![]() |

In 1990 I was a member of a team who explored the Kirktau area near Samarkand in Uzbeckistan. See Link In the summer of 1991 I jointly led an expedition to explore an area of the Pamir Mountains in Tadzhikistan. After flying to Dushanbe we were transported by helicopter into the mountains near the border with Afghanistan where we explored two areas and a number of new caves and mapped the surrounding area. Contact was also made with the local people, who were, to say the least, surprised to see us. I was also part of a team to explore the Giant Gypsum Caves of the Ukraine. I have a separate page for this! |

I have a wide selection of photographs and slides and can offer a presentation of some of the caves and limestone scenery of parts of the British Isles and Western Europe. Included in Britain are the Yorkshire Dales, South Wales, Derbyshire, Mendip Hills and Ireland. In Europe caves featured include those in France, Spain and Switzerland. Some spectacular karst scenery with impressive caves below. Here you can see Hugh St Lawrence getting a well earned drink at Bivouac 1 in the Hölloch. This is western Europe's longest cave and is located in the the Swiss Alps. It is only fully accessible in winter when the water above the cave is frozen. |
